Patricia Wake is a singing, songwriting, guitar playing, Sci-Fi/ Fantasy loving, ren-faire going, steampunk SCAdian goth chick fangirl. Patricia writes very serious songs (SRSLY) then presents them with irreverence and inappropriate laughter. Although her major musical influences include Leonard Cohen, P.J. Harvey, Kate Bush, Nick Cave, Tom Waits and Joni Mitchell, she is also influenced by way too much caffeine, crazy cat lady disorder, an obsession with speculative fiction, and a morbid fascination with the concept of entropy. Patricia currently offers two self recorded and handmade demo EPs, "I'll Have the Pathos With a Side of Angst", and "The Science of Fiction." She appears on Wrapped in the Guise of My Friend, a tribute to UK experimental music pioneers Attrition, and also on the upcoming cancer benefit compilation Electronic Saviors: Industrial Music to Cure Cancer. Of course, music doesn't pay the bills, so Patricia also creates costumery for her fellow chronically challenged clothing enthusiasts. Lyrics
Though you’d like to keep it closed and stable Cold but never cold enough inside Longing for a touch, it’s elemental The game is underway, the stakes are high Energies exchanging, breath and blood borne Still you’d like to think that you could choose To measure out the effort in your favor but you Can’t take more than you’re prepared to lose You stand on the edge of destruction You move so sure that you’re good for the win You hope that it all will even out You should Know that it does because entropy wins in the end You wear each other down to strike the balance And the cold should be enough to stop your heart You think you might get out and cut your losses But you’ll only find yourself back at the start
