STYLO aka Da Young Mex When you think of Nebraska, what comes to mind is farms and cattle. STYLO is here to break that picture. On January 14, 1985 on the South Side of the growing city of Omaha, Nebraska; Rolando Valadez aka STYLO was born. Growing up in a traditional Mexican family rap music was not received with open arms. His older brother was the only way to get a hold of any Hip Hop. Growing up listening to predominately Midwest rap he started to give it a shot. Starting off reciting his favorite songs to eventually writing his own at the age of 11. This was kept to himself until he hit Omaha South High School where he started battling and rapping for the homies. Then from there came the house parties where he battled crews by himself and winning the majority of the time. He became known around the South Side of the city, also known as “Soma Town” as one of the top rappers. Eventually he hooked up with a guy he knew around the way named Edgar De Leon, who later became his manager. Working together with Edgar De Leon, they released a solo album titled “Call It What You Want” and three mixtapes locally. Over a thousand copies of each project were pushed which at the time was a big accomplishment. Later he managed to secure a solo deal with independent label Mastered Trax Latino who is run by Tony Z from the California Group called “Kali Men” and Young Joe, a young entrepreneur from the Bay Area. STYLO, who is now 22 is at the point in his career where anything can happen. STYLO has many styles which he attributes to being in the Middle of the Map. Influences come from all sides of the nation. From Big Pun to Bone Thugs N Harmony to West Side Connection to Nas to Scarface to UGK. STYLO can come at you from all angles. It’s only a matter of time till he hits the airwaves with a force that no one will be able to stop. With a lot of connections and many relationships in the industry building, this young Mexicano will let it be known that he is here with a new sound and is here to stay Open your mind to a new sound, a Midwest sound, from a different point of view ya dig
