Something I've wanted to write about for a long time. Our country's future is at stake.
Hard-rocking, guitar-driven blues-influenced music.
Note June 2024: All of the songs with a RED guitar picture tag to the left were recorded LIVE over backing tracks created with an Nux Loop Core and an Ammoon Pock-Rock. Glarry GTL semi-hollow tele copy guitar used. Mini digital voice recorder with Shure and Fender mikes captured it all live.
All the songs with yellow guitar picture tag are the previously recorded blues style songs.
These are some songs I started writing and recorded in late 2005, early 2006. I recorded them at home in my loft using cassette machines and a couple of microphones. Pretty barebones stuff. I keep writing and adding new songs as I get the motivation. Life provides lots of that. Check out the videos that I just added, all performed with Crazy Mixed Up World. (see Crazy Mixed up World at reverbnation.com). Songs sound best with headphones.
Story behind the song
I entered this country legally and became a citizen by following the process legally. Why can't the rest of them?
Lyrics
LADY LIBERTY CRIES
(Written by David R. Pankoski – Aug 2008)
Whats going on at our borders everyday,
One or two thousand sneaking in everyday.
Stealing my job, my taxes, my money,
Used to be a joke now it aint so funny.
Yeah what are we gonna do,
Theyre just laughing at me & you.
Everywhere you turn across our great land,
All demanding we gotta give em a hand.
Breaking our laws, abusing our rights,
Sad goings on in the cover of night.
All my bad dreams are coming true,
The time to act is long overdue.
Listen to me people to what I gotta say,
Our time is slipping, its slipping away.
We cant wait, can’t wait any longer,
Everyday that passes and the evil gets stronger.
Its time to do what we gotta do,
And its time our leaders did it too.
Take a look around people & what do you see,
Strangers making fools of you & me.
Illegals, outcasts with no land of their own,
Send em packing this aint their home.
You know what we gotta do,
Make them leaders work for me & you.
Tired, poor huddled masses yearning to be free,
But they dont deserve more rights than me.
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore,
Weve given enough we owe them no more.
Lady Liberty we’ve failed you,
Lady Liberty we’ve lots to do.
Yes these the homeless, tempest tossed to me,
They do have a need a right to be free.
But I have lifted my lamp beside the golden door,
and the lamp burns dim, it lights little more.
Lady Liberty weve failed you,
Lady Liberty weve got a lot to do.
