Story behind the song
My 91 year old mother in law is living with us after a hospital stay, is having some serious medical problems, and will not be able to live independently anymore. This song is my attempt to understand where she goes and what she thinks about when she "fades out" and what it must be like to face this stage of life. Thanks for taking the time to listen. The volume is a bit low so you may have to turn it up.
Lyrics
Unfinished Business Jeff Lustick-2008 It never used to feel this way Funny how things change I always had a lot to say Now even words feel strange The days go by so slowly now Each one just the same I thought I felt your touch somehow And heard you call my name Memories from days before Some are bittersweet Friends and loved ones at my door Scenes that still repeat The dreams of youth have come and gone Some colored with regret When everything is said and done It's good fortune that I've met My daughter's lives are now their own I trust I taught them well They've never let me feel alone Through heaven or through hell The streets of Brooklyn on my mind And that sweet Long Island shore In my heart I turn back time And walk those streets once more My child's children now have grown Young men who make me smile I wish them love to call their own I'm with them every mile Shed a tear when I am gone Seek comfort in the pain My soul is only moving on I'll find you all again I'll find you all again
