Story behind the song
Another song written back in the Jersey days. Wrote it about my boyfriend at the time (he was sleeping while I was writing it) because I knew our relationship was ending and I didn't know what was going to happen next. So, I wrote this with many drinks in tow, imagining myself sending a postcard to him from some place other than where I was. I forgot about it for like a year and found it again to record it. And, My dad likes this one.
Lyrics
this is the last time i'm going to care about this i'm running away across the state line just file away all my capricious crimes i'll send you a palm tree postcard gushing with lies i thought i could/ capture our atom/ split it to see inside/ i guess i was/ too undaunted/ too naive to realize/ i can't dissect love/ though i can dissect what you're thinking of that you are mint and i am cinnamon can't you see i'm through- with you playing it cool? i needed a heart to steal i'm sorry it was yours i only took it to keep from hurting my own you know i've always been the elastic girl on loan i'll send you the money to buy a heart that is whole. chorus
