Story behind the song
The song was inspired to be written after a fallout with some other rappers that Jones had been previously involved. The message in the song was that although he was going in a NEW direction as the "NEW CHRIS JONES", he wanted everyone to know that he was still gonna ride, hence the title, When We Ride, which is a reference to him and his 2Live family.
