Jesse Ayers composes "surround-sound" music for orchestra, symphonic band, and choir. His more important works focus on the intersection of the spiritual and natural worlds and explore the redemptive intervention of God in the affairs of the human race, pieces such as JERICHO, AND THEY GATHERED ON MOUNT CARMEL, and THE SEVENTH SEAL. But there is also a fun-loving side to Ayers' music with pieces such as the WALDSTEIN EXPRESS, THE DANCING KING, and CARIBBEAN FANTASY ON JOY TO THE WORLD, music filled with energy, rhythmic syncopations, and bright, cheerful harmonies. Ayers music has been performed in Japan, New Zealand, South Africa, Russia, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia, and over 85 U.S. cities.

Story behind the song
An energetic fantasia based on the first movement of Beethoven's Sonata No. 21, (Op. 53) "Waldstein." Beethoven's opening two measures are repeated throughout as a ground bass á la Steve Reich, with other motivic fragments from Beethoven's original appearing in the upper voices along with freely composed material. Other cameo appearances include the bass line from the coda of the first movement Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, the opening of the C major Prelude from the Bach WTC, a little Gershwin, and a little Jerry Lee Lewis.
