Although many of us move where life takes us, at some point the call of home comes to us, the familiar rhythm of home.

Story behind the song
The lyrics were written by local poet and friend John Borlase who feels the call of home and was moved to write about it. John like myself is a son of West Penwith in Cornwall our shared understanding of 'the rhythm' brought us together to create this song.
Lyrics
Early one morning As I lay resting Not asleep not yet awake I heard a rhythm of voices singing Indistinct from far away I could not hear them What did they say It gave me comfort The magpies warning Stacatto calling I awoke no song for me Only the rhythm persistent rhythm Though it is fading its still with me Some months later Another morning as day was dawning I lay dreaming not yet awake I heard the rhythm that self same rhythm The annoying rhythm, that bothered me then I saw the faces, familiar places from long ago from my story The magpies warning Stacatto calling I awoke no song for me Only the rhythm, the persistent rhythm Though it is fading its still with me Some months later Porthia harbour, a Zennor farmhouse Gentle breezes choppy seas Then it faded the dream had ended As I awoke But the rhythm, persistent rhythm Though it’s fading slowly fading Faintly echoes won’t go away Something is missing from this life I'm leading That was lost when I moved away A past that’s calling, whispers longing Come home come back, come home, where you belong What else what else, what else does the rhythm say
