Story behind the song
A more recent song I've worked on. Pretty straight-foward I think. I'm pretty sure most people have been in situations where they thought they were something more than what they actually were and it hurts undeniably when you realize it.
Lyrics
Maybe he loved me/ but just plum forgot/
but i am learning/ stark forgiveness/
though i didn't know it then/ frayed thin/
like an old tapestry/ hanging from your head
i didn't know i was your operator/
crossing the lines between your narrators/
whose been kissing my perpetrator/
boys treat me like/ i'm an operator
little boy blue/ blow that snow horn/
drinking that whiskey/ with that irish rouge/
i'm the statue beside you/ loaded and doped out/
waiting to go home/ to sleep next to you
i didn't know i was your operator/
crossing the lines between your narrators/
whose been kissing my perpetrator/
boys treat me like/ i'm an operator
-when you gonna cross that line on your own -
(big boy big boy you really got it now)
-when you gonna cross that line on your own-
(big boy big boy you really got it now)
big man and little girl/big man and little girl/
grown man and little girl.
well you're a midwestern baby/with your Hartford accent/
and your shit-kickin' boots yeah/you're mister Fantastic/
and you know all the girls/ like a 12-piece puzzle/
did i fit in there?/ i'm highly doubtful
I should've know I was your operator/
crossing the lines between your narrators/
she's been kissing my perpetrator/
boys treat me like-
boys, and their phones:
just dialing anything that screams.
