Story behind the song
This song is about the first big move or change that I had in my life. I think I was fourteen, and my dad had just gotten custody of me and was deciding to leave the state. There was this one girl at the time that I had been madly in love with ever since I could remember, and I was devastated. I had the whole first love, puppy dog type of thing going on and it was bad. Of course little things like leaving the state where I grew up, and where all my family and friends were didn't really help much either.
The next few months after the move are really where the song comes from. I was in a strange new place where I only knew the people that we were staying with, and I missed home. I remember looking at the pictures of everyone and seeing their smiles frozen back in a happier time, and feeling so far away from that. It was definitely a pretty tough time in my life.
