Grandma's Song cover by Lasse Joensson
I was so excited when lasse asked to cover this song. it's an old one, that's for sure. Lasse's version is better than the original basement tape also here on my music page!
Thank you Lasse!!

Story behind the song
My grandmother had been gone since i was 13, and she was great, i missed her very much. but i had become a member of my partners family, and my new grandma was a story teller. she is a story teller. chipper and lively and i wanted a grandma like that in my life, so i dreamed up this relationship, and eventually put it to the page and onto a cassette tape - if you remember! i remember taping reel-to-reel! well, that's the story.

Mama says you’re running out of time
She looked at me and said one day
Ya know I’ve never cried
Then she laughed a bit and cocked her head
And told me that she lied
She told me ‘bout the time he walked
From boston to Tennessee
And how her shoes just walked away
When she took ‘em off her feet
Chorus
One day my ma said, “grandma’s gone”
And I knew she meant she died
And at the wake I held on inside
Cause she said she never cried
Mama said I couldn’t understand
Cause I was just a kid
So I asked her to explain it to me
Before the shut the lid
chorus
Great! these lyrics are amazing!
