Story behind the song
I had recently come back from India, - hence the early reference to a looping Mantra, and was feeling like life wasn't going so well in England, so I was thinking about my impending move to Israel in an idealistic way... which kept me awake!
The reference to the shadows, are simply darker times in life, compared to the 'Rivers' which symbolise love.
Lyrics
A word to yourself and a concept to bear
Like a looping mantra - it's a good one to share,
When you can't sleep at night and the world's crying out
Get out there and give it a shout.
The wind howls in the trees whilst you half dream of that Mediterranean breeze,
Re-inventing yourself, and it all seems so clear.
The shadows used to give you shivers, but no more since you embrace the rivers,
As the trickling ebb flows clean and fresh, the thought of sleep is put to rest.
A new set of clothes, a new set of friends,
A work-out regime and making amends,
For the time that's been wasted in front of the screen,
It all seems so simple in the haze of the dream.
