So Royal, Where were you born? ROYAL: I was born in NYC, where music comes to life -As a child, how was the "music world" introduced to you? ROYAL: Growing up in a humble household, with very down to earth colombian parents, I learned to look at life from a different perspective. I began to take everything that came to me as an inspiration, idea and life lesson, instead of as hardships, problems and disappointments. I realized at a very early age that my life in every aspect felt incomplete without music. -Where did your interest to become DJ ROYAL come from? ROYAL: This interest derived from my heart and my mind, it was like a natural instinct to work with music. My preference is and was reggaeton when I DJ. This type of music has addictive beats and rythms and at times very meaningful lyrics. -So tell me, where or how did you get inspired to start rappin and or singin a bit? ROYAL: Well, since I was about 15 yrs. old, I began to DJ. Ironically, every time that I had to go to a party to do my thing, I noticed that a lot of people wanted to battle each other lyrically to see who was #1. My position at that time was to judge and pick wn each round. Slowly I began to see a potential talent in myself, just waiting to burst out. Noticing that many things inspired me, I felt as though I could create songs off the top of my head and freestyle with no hesitation. My skills began to be noticed by other people other than myself. I knew that I had and have to work hard to become better & better each day, but I'm at the same level if not further of people who have been rappin for years, and I just began in the summer of '06. I will always be humble about what I do, but with all of my hardwork and effort, I'm gonna strive to be the best that I can be. -Why "ROYAL"? ROYAL: "ROYAL" in my opinion describes me in many ways. Everything that I attempt to do, I intend to do it above average. I treat every aspect of my life as royalty and uniqueness. -Royal, in conclusion, I have learned a lot about you tonight. What should we all be expecting in the near future from you? ROYAL: I want all of my wonderful people ou there to expect diferent, new and unique things from me. I am willing to take all of the opportunities presented to me and if all goes well and God opens up the right paths for me, I will continue to cross boundaries and create a new era in the world of reggaeton! ROYAL: Creciendo en una familia humilde de padres colombianos, aprendi a vivir la vida de una manera diferente. Empeze a ver todo como una inspiracion y leccion, embez de fracasos y tristezas. Me di cuenta a una temprana edad que mi vida se sentia incompleta sin musica en todos los aspectos de mi vida. -De donde salio el interes de volverte "DJ ROYAL"? ROYAL: El interes nacio en mi mente y corazon. El reggaeton ha sido mi preferencia en el tipo de musica que "mixeo", por las liricas y el ritmo pegajoso que tiene. -Y dime, de donde aparecio la inspiracion de empezar a "rapiar" y a cantar un poco? ROYAL: Bueno, desde los 15 anos empeze a ser un DJ, y por las casualidades de la vida, cada vez que yp tenia que ir hacer lo mio, notaba que la gente a mi alrededor siempre querian batallarsen liricalmente del uno al otro. Yo como DJ y jues de los raperos escojia al ganador. Poco a poco y lentamente me di cuenta de que yp tenia talento. Todo me inspiraba para sacar canciones a "mente libre" lo que llamamos "freestyling". Mis abilidades se empezaron a notar donde fuera con quien fuera. Yo mismo note de que mi talento se necesitaba pulir, pero estaba al mismo nivel que otros que han estado improvisando en este genero por anos, si no es que mejor. Mi humildad siempre sera una gran parte de mi, pero con mucho esfuerzo y dedicacion tratare de ser el mejor que podre ser. -Por que el nombre "ROYAL"? ROYAL: "ROYAL" en mi opinion describe y dice mucho de mi. Todo lo que trato de hacer, lo trato de hacer mejor que todo el mundo y diferente. Trato todos los aspectos de mi vida con mucha seriedad y como "royalty". -En conclusion Royal, he aprendido mucho de ti esta noche. Que deveremos de esperar de ti en el futuro cercano? ROYAL: Yo quiero que mi gente espere lo diferente, lo unico y lo nuevo de mi.
