Story behind the song
This was a song I composed as a teenager. The thing that interested me most about this song was the organ riff that carries on through the entire work. I just could not get enough of it. The entire piece is written around that organ riff.
Lyrics
"Playing The Game Tonight" Song: Copyright © 1985 Timothy S. Klugh. All Rights Reserved. Recording: Copyright © 2007 Timothy S. Klugh. All Rights Reserved. You thought I might be alone Sitting by the telephone, And you say you’re in love with me... Love with me. Times I’ve seen you walking home. You’re with him—you’re not alone, And you say he’s a friend, you see. Don’t take it... Personally. But, time was on my side, And you’ve no where to hide. And, see’n the city sights, Playing the game tonight. You thought you might find me there, Find me sitting in a chair. 'Apologize when you see me. Don't... Come to me. You thought you might come to me. 'Thought I’d show some sympathy. Is that all that you want from me is... Sympathy? But, time was on my side, And you’ve no where to hide. And, see’n the city lights, Playing the game tonight. Times I’ve seen you walking home. You’re with him—you’re not alone, And you say he’s a friend, you see. Don’t take it... Personally. You thought you might come to me. 'Thought I’d show some sympathy. Is that all that you want from me is... Sympathy? But, time was on my side, And you’ve no where to hide. And, see’n the city lights, Playing the game tonight.
