Story behind the song
These chants, hymns and choral pices from a chain of prayer, a river which is calling us, drawing us, to strive for that peace which the world cannot give, whether it is, for example, through the anguish of gethsemane, the mystery of o magnum mysterium, the justice and peace of 'song of the angels, the deep stillness of 'inpoured spirit', or the transforming power of 'life of Christ'. Throughout the fourteen pieces there are these different aspects of prayer for seeking peace in our hearts and in our world.
Lyrics
When the song of the angels is stilled, when the star in the sky is gone. When the kings and princes are home, when the shepherds are back with their flocks. The work of Christmas begins. To find the lost, to heal the broken, the work of Christmas now begins. To feed the hungry, to release the pris'ner, the work of Christmas begins, the work of Christmas begins; to rebuild the nations, to bring peace among people, to make music, to make music, to make music in the heart; music, music, music in the heart. The work of Christmas begins, when the song of angels is still'd, when the star in the sky is gone, when the kings and princes are home, when the shepherds are back with their flocks. The work of Christmas begins.
