Story behind the song
The international 'Prayer for Peace', which i have set as a very simple hymn, is said daily at noon in many countries throughout the world and has been translated into more than forty languages. It expresses so much of what peace is about; that it must begin in our own hearts. Only then can it radiate out into the world. For me the struggle of peace is not an easy option but one which will cost not less than everything. It envolves poverty of Spirit and letting go of those worldly things which make us feel strong, but can be at the expense of others. There are also many things opposed to peace which influence us as we live out our lives in our competitive and materialistic, yet spiritually hungry, society.
Lyrics
Lead me from death to life, from falsehood to truth; lead me from despair to hope, from fear to trust; lead me from hate to love, from war to peace, let peace fill our hearts, our world, our universe, let peace fill our hearts, our world, our universe, peace, peace, peace.
