Lyrics
STREET SIGNS Written by John Gary Bovay © 1992 COUNT (French Horn notes approximate syllables) VERSE 1: Look around. Your town... Street signs will often, have life. From those, who have it. To those, who crave it. To those, in dire need of light. Over there. Is a pair. 'Law says they repre-sent 'right'. But friend, or foe. Nobo-dy knows. 'Till, you need one one night. CHORUS A: Then here stands Karen, with coffee. Her eyes, deeper, than words... Amid, the din. Of loud tunes, loud laughter, and worse.... Night time. Day time. Any time is play time. For those, who live, a hard way... Angles and bangles. And too much, that jangles! Is the uniform, of, each day... VERSE 2: Heels... To look real... 'Neath a crossed pair of, fish-netted thighs. Yet when she laughs. And orders some more. It's like she's just one of.., the guys. Tough talk. That walks. Men who are, scarce more, than boys. Leaning back in, their seats. With lives so 'neat'. Hard 'Pillars', see 'em all, as mere toys... BRIDGE: Rejection, dejection. And even injection! Are often in real go-od, supply... So-oh! Is the fire in their eyes. When to challenge they do rise. With a “YEAH..!? You go ahead and try!” It's all part of finding. Our part, and defining. Our space on this stage, we call life... And the most, we can hope for. Once, we get older. Is to look back and see no big lies... VERSE 3: Over there. Is a pair. 'Law says they're doing, no right. But friend, or foe. Nobo-dy knows. 'Till, you need one, one night... CHORUS B: And-still-here-stands Karen, with coffee. Her eyes, deeper, than words...... Amid, this din. Of loud tunes, loud laughter, and worse... Night time. Day time. Anytime is play time. For those, who live, a hard way... If you ask how she does it? How, she gets through it? With a sigh she'll say, “ahhh.., go away...” ENDING: Look around... Your town....................... END.
