Blood and Roses seem to be paired up pretty often, one way or another, in life and art. Guest vocal by Brenda Briggs.

A verstile acoustic rock/blues/alt country group with an edgy sense of humour.
Urban Bunny is a group including myself, my wife Cathy, songwriting partner Bruce Brososky on bass and guitar, Steve Lemiski on drums and percussion, and Laurent Arams on guitar. This band was born of jams and workshopping new songs at the West Edmonton Music Society. While not a full time performing group, Urban Bunny does do one or two local performances a month, and has recently completed a new CD of material written by Terry and Bruce, entitled 'Dead of Night', much of which is available for listening right here. You can find more music from Cathy and Bruce on their own SoundClick profile pages, which, oddly enough, are handily linked to the "Fans" section below :) Other key performers in the UB recordings include Stu Adams (harp), Dan MacDonald (sax), and Brenda Briggs (vocals). Brenda sang all the parts on "Blood and Roses" and "Broken Down Angel" (one of her own songs), as well as backups on several others.

Story behind the song
Bruce came up with the image of flowers, gifts and cards left at a death scene, in memory of an innocent victim of some senseless act of urban violence and that became our story for the song. Our friend Brenda lent her considerable talent to the vocals and another guest visit from Dan the Saxman gave this a moody darkness that I really like.
Lyrics
BLOOD AND ROSES Bruce Brososky & Terry Taylor TONITE THE SIDEWALK’S BRIGHT WITH FLOWERS, TEDDY BEARS AND NOTES THAT SAY ‘LAURA WE MISS YOU WHY DID YOU HAVE TO GO ? IT WAS AN ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING, SOMEONE ELSE WAS MEANT TO DIE BUT IT’S A CHILD OF 13 SUMMERS THAT WAS KILLED AS THEY DROVE BY BLOOD AND ROSES, SENTIMENTAL RHYMES BLOOD AND ROSES, ARE ALL THAT’S LEFT BEHIND ALL THE BRIGHT LIGHTS OF THE CITY MASK THE VIOLENCE AND PAIN NO FLOWERS MARK THE CORNER OF 34TH AND MAIN JUST THE RED LIGHTS SLOWLY FLASHING IN THE DARK, AND IN THE RAIN THEY LOOK JUST LIKE BLOOD AND ROSES, AND THE CITY BLEEDS AGAIN BLOOD AND ROSES, SENTIMENTAL RHYMES BLOOD AND ROSES, ARE ALL THAT’S LEFT BEHIND
