Story behind the song
I came up with the song idea way back in February of this year after listening to "Death By Television" by The Lillingtons. I wrote and recorded a demo and it kinda sat around for a couple months. I decided that I didn't like how the song sounded and I completely re-wrote the song including totally re-writing the lyrics. This time, I just sat down on my guitar and started playing the chorus to the song. It kinda just came to me. I recorded a demo and I loved it. But then I decided it's good enough for my album so I decided to re-record it. This is where the magic happens. During the recording process, I add so many things that it improves the song drastically. My songs usually go through 3 stages. The first stage is kinda just getting the structure, chord structure, and lyrics together. The second stage is when I record a very rough demo of what I have and starting writing the backup vocals and guitar riffs. The last stage is always my favorite. This is where all my hard work finally comes together. Here I finalize the lyrics, and make sure the song contains as many hooks as I am able to put in. Sometimes it takes me about 2 days to completely record and mix a song. This one took one day actually. It went so fast cause I was able to record the vocals in one take. That part usually takes me hours to do. I try to experiment a bit in each song I record. This time, I tried out 3 part hamonies. It's a great little hook and built up the 2nd chorus very nicely. I had some fun with the keyboards this time too. I made them a little bit more noticable this time and it adds a good feel to my song. I really like the structure of this song. It only contains 2 choruses, 1 verse, 1 bridge, and an outro. I don't like to follow the standard song writing formula. I had to tweak the outro quite a bit until I got it to sound right. At the last minute, I deleted all the extra vocals I put on at the end. It just had too much. So I kept it simple and you just have a nice keyboard riff closing out the song. I like the guitar work on this song alot. The closing riff is my favorite. Alright so that's pretty much all there is to say about this song. Hope everyone enjoys it!
