Story behind the song
This song is an autobiography of sorts. It timelines my life since I married my wife Michelle 14 years ago. And how precious time is.
Lyrics
You know it’s funny, but as a child when we think of time, it seems to go by so slow. But as an adult thinking back over it all, it only lasts but a minute. It all started way back in 94, I got on one knee outside your door In the pouring rain, my heart was pounding in my chest Then in 5 months we said I do You looked at me as I looked at you From that moment on, every year has been our best. Till death do us part just ain’t long enough Through sickness and health, when times got tough For better or worse, through good times and the bad I wouldn’t trade another lifetime, for the minutes, the minutes that we had Back in 99 when our son came And on that day our lives were changed You became a mom And I became a dad Then in two years there came little a girl And with every smile, she changed our world Watching them grew up, time was all we had. Till death do us part just ain’t long enough Through sickness and health, when times got tough For better or worse, through good times and the bad I wouldn’t trade another lifetime, for the minutes, the minutes that we had From the Rose I bought for our first date To the flowers they lay upon my grave I cherish you through the good times, and the bad I wouldn’t trade another lifetime, for the minutes, the minutes that we had A minute here, a minute there Time goes by without a care And as I look back on all the minutes past I wouldn’t trade another lifetime, for the minutes, the minutes that we had
