Story behind the song
Tired of the same old simple love theme I wanted to come up with something mainstream but still a little different. Watching The Reason video gave me the idea of creating a double-meaning situation. The song''s little piece of originality comes from the two-level story and its reflection in the mood of the music using guitars with untraditional tuning and a lot of reverb/delay. This creates the same atmosphere as The Reason and Admittedly the story-line is just as dark. It's the kind of music that strikes a chord within the few of us that have that sensitivity or not, I guess and it's not a Heavy Metal man's cup of tea! So hear it is in Demo form created at home with the help of elctronic drums and crash.
Lyrics
I'm a man on the edge , Got nothing to lose You would call me If you were in my shoes I'm waiting to hear Beg for a call You are the Court And I'm just the ball Call! Chorus: Everyday people go by my window Everyday people go by my door No I can't live if I don't hear from you NoI can't live another day Come what may I've written you letters And promises too I regret everything What more can I do I'm down on my knees Please let me walk tall Don't cold-shoulder me I'm chained to the wall Call Chorus Time's running against me Hear the clock tick away Here's a man of the cloth But I've nothing to say My faith is gone But he can't understand I can't fight the tide I'm just a grain in the sand I look at the priest There's fear in his face But I bet my life He wouldn't take my place Walk out of my cell Down that long corridor Old Sparky's waiting With a big shock in store You didn't call Chorus (twice)
