A cover of the Richard Berry song made famous by The Kingsmen in the 60's

Singer/songwriter, writing mostly alternative/indie rock music inspired by "serious" alternative artists such as Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Bloc Party and Bjork. I have a particular disdain for the stereotypical, ostentatious "sex n drugs n rock n roll" aesthetic. I much prefer to concentrate on musical development through texture, structure and harmony, than use flashy 10-minute guitar solos and riff-rock wankery.

Story behind the song
This is something we had to do for our final year module 'Studio Engineering' on my Music Technology degree course. The first part of the assignment was to record one of the instruments, played by someone else, in a professional studio environment. In the second part, everyone's recordings were made available to all, and we could use any number of them in order to produce a good mix. We were also allowed to record (or re-record) more parts if we wanted. The only part of this recording that came out of the first part of the assignment is the drums. The guitar, bass and vocal parts recorded by the group were reaaaaally bad - not in terms of recording quality, but in terms of performance. So I recorded my own guitar, bass and vocals, and I put some clapping over the top. Listening to it now, the snare's too quiet, and so are the guitar licks, but I'll sort that out eventually. But I got 72% for it, which is a 1st.
Lyrics
Louie Louie, oh no! Me gotta go, a-ya-ya-ya Louie Louie, oh baby Me gotta go A fine little girl waits for me Catch a ship across the sea Sail that ship about all alone And never know if I'll make it home Louie Louie, oh no Me gotta go, a-ya-ya-ya Louie Louie, oh baby Me gotta go Three nights and days I sail the sea Think of my girl constantly On that ship I dream she's there I smell the rose in her hair Louie Louie, oh no! Me gotta go, a-ya-ya-ya Louie Louie, oh baby Me gotta go (solo) See Jamaica, the moon above It won't be long, me see my love Take her in my arms again Tell her I'll never leave again Louie Louie, oh no! Me gotta go, a-ya-ya-ya Louie Louie, oh baby Me gotta go Louie Louie Me gotta go
