Singer-songwriter, arranger and producer: acoustic contemporary folk but ranging into rock/blues/country/jazz/humour...all very eclectic, I'm afraid!
Martin Stirrup Singer/songwriter An old folkie who got back into it... These days I sing and play guitar(s) and other stringed instruments, then score and orchestrate where appropriate. My taste becomes increasingly eclectic ranging from finger-picked folk through country to soft rock mixed in with a few more alternative and eccentric numbers, including the odd novelty foxtrot...

Story behind the song
I got quite used to finding by bass E detuned to D.... but A to G as well? Still, I got an instrumental out of it... ..and it turned into a great instrumental to go with a video going over the Gokteik viaduct in Myanmar... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaWtmvW5ntM or on a travel agent's website at http://www.visitasia.co.uk/myanmar/myanmar_untouched.html STOP PRESS: now accompanies a youtube video of the Gokteik Viaduct in Myanmar: http://youtu.be/JaWtmvW5ntM and on soundclick A spectacular trip on the narrow gauge railway across the Gokteik Viaduct in Myanmar, january 2012. The Viaduct lies 34 miles north of Pyin oo Lwin (Maymo), Northeast of Mandalay. It was built in 1901 and looks pretty scary (and feels a bit creaky as the train passes over it) but is well worth the visit. At 318ft high it was the second highest viaduct in the world when it was constructed.
