Singer-songwriter, arranger and producer: acoustic contemporary folk but ranging into rock/blues/country/jazz/humour...all very eclectic, I'm afraid!
Martin Stirrup Singer/songwriter An old folkie who got back into it... These days I sing and play guitar(s) and other stringed instruments, then score and orchestrate where appropriate. My taste becomes increasingly eclectic ranging from finger-picked folk through country to soft rock mixed in with a few more alternative and eccentric numbers, including the odd novelty foxtrot...

Story behind the song
A rockabilly number extolling the pleasures of a second youth that started life as two separate songs which then got blurred together and gained a banjo... but it needed the serendipity of Helen Martyn's castenets to complete it!
Lyrics
6 am the alarm clock is glowing Out side I think it might be snowing but Inside we’re wrapped up warm and cosy I’m lying here thinkin’ that the future’s looking rosy Well maybe I’m a jerk But I don’t really fancy work so Let’s pretend We’re seventeen again Long hours seem to be getting longer Yet somehow the passion getting stronger You laugh, you say my age is showing But don’t blame its not my fault if something’s growing Well this feeling can’t be wrong So why not tag along and Lets pretend We’re seventeen again G D A F#G G D E A D You got the passion, I got the hots So why not take the time to see what I got For far too long I’ve been taking the strain I just wanna feel just like I’m seventeen again Your choice, you can be the chooser But I bet that early bus is gonna be the loser You know it’s nice to wake up feeling full and frisky What’s there to lose, what could be so risky well the kids are long gone so fore winter draws on lets pretend we’re seventeen again Come on and hold me like we’re seventeen again Come on and squeeze me like we’re seventeen again Come on and kiss me like we’re seventeen again Come on and touch me like we’re seventeen again Come on ….. seventeen again Come on ….. seventeen again I just wanna feel just like I’m seventeen again
