Story behind the song
in late 1982/early 1983,while living in Duesseldorf Germany & signed to Ralf Krueger Musik. we had demod Violins on a 4 track machine & sent out the demos to various record labels & producers around Europe & England.
well, Trevor Horn/ZTT Records was one of the labels we sent the Violins demo to. One day about 6 months later,we were watching the local music channel & this brand new band from Duesseldorf called,Propaganda,started to play their new song called,"Duel".
From the first chords of the keyboards etc....our mouths dropped to the floor.
we said.."mannnnnnnnnnn this sounds just like Violins,damn that Trevor Horn"..............
well,we were freinds with Propaganda since they were from Duesseldorf etc...we just let it gobut still feeling a bit flattered.we always wondered if Trevor heard that 4 track demo of Violins we sent or maybe it was this guy named Paul Morley,because there was too many similarities between both songs...
I guess you can decide for yourself when you listen to it.
