Everybody always wanted to be a star. When sites like You Tube came
along, everyone had the chance.
This song describes a performer who sees himself as that superstar on You Tube.
The song is about a guy who lives, eats and sleeps to know how

Story behind the song
Since I made the cover of a Time Magazine's "Person of The Year" issue, I wrote a song about it.
With all the internet clips on TV and the success of so many 15 minutes of fame people from You Tube, I was surprised that there had not been dozens of songs written about this subject already.
So I made sure one was written for historical purposes.
On TV, radio and print all you see 24/7 is internet related news, so why not write about what everyone has on their brain? I knew playing it from a role of vanity would be the truth expressed in humor.
In the video I did of this song I used a six foot cardboard cut out of Ed McMahon dancing around with me. That was real vanity to think someone who was so well known for decades would be in a video with an
obsessive joker like I play when singing the song.
This song can be heard on 35,000 TouchTunes digital jukebxes and will also be on Rowe and Rock-Ola.
Lyrics
You Tube Superstar
Words and Music by
Wild Bill Cooksey
Chorus:
I'm A struttin"....I'm a laughin'
People recognize me every place I go
’Cause I'm a big superstar in my "You Tube" vide-oooo.
I wake up every morning, rush to get out on the net,
To see if the rank of my video is number one yet
Don't be thinkin' all this fame is going straight to my head
But 13 people viewed me while I was still asleep in bed.
Well, the world watched Paris Hilton exercise in her boudoir
Then they started Googlin' Britney to see her gettin' out of a car
People finally found something that made 'em turn off their TV
Now they sit at their computers all day - Just lookin' at me.
BRIDGE:
I used to be a nobody with low self esteem
But a 20 dollar webcam ignited my dream
Got placed in all the search engines...didn't cost a dime
Then I found myself featured on the cover of Time.
I'll soon be gettin' calls from Oprah, Larry King, and Donald Trump
Letterman and Leno'll be tryin' to get the jump
Be on CBS, NBC, CNN, and Fox
I'll tell you something folks - being a celebrity really rocks.
I went shoppin' down at Wal-Mart, but it's the same everywhere
I just try to ignore it when the people point and stare
The cashier at the checkout seemed to have a nervous laugh
I said, "Honey, you don't have to worry . . . I'll give you my autograph."
