Sea Change takes us to deeper water, still in the harbour but now much closer to the open sea. It is a calm day, but we are still awed by the apparent power of the sea, as it swells and surges under the sea wall and then retreats. There is a breeze
This is the third of Four Sea Pieces. Here I consciously set out to emulate the concept of the four Sea Interludes from Britten’s Peter Grimes. I wanted to create four distinct but connected pieces, each of which would capture a specific aspect of the changing moods of the sea. I was born within sight and sound of the sea (the North Sea as it happens) and being by or on the sea has special significance for me.
