Experimental one-man band. Alternates between singer-songwriter style, avant-pop, formless experimental works, and everything in between.
My name is Chris Robertson, but I go by the moniker Xylen Roberts. I hate writing these things---just let the music do the talking. I've been making music since I was 13, and am well-versed in the following instruments: keyboard/piano, vocals, electronic programming and manipulating, percussion, and sampling. Most recently, in the past 7 months, I've picked up the guitar but am not amazing or anything yet---I can do any kind of gtr rhythm pretty well, but have a long way to go in the lead department. I've made about a dozen albums and countless additional recordings using computer programs, 4-tracks, cheap 2-track boomboxes (with Radio Shack mics connected), and occassionally friends' home studios. This summer, I will hopefully be recording a couple much-more professional-sounding albums, so stay tuned for that exciting development. In the meantime, enjoy these selections from my following D.I.Y. releases: 'Lemurcharmer' (2002) 'Confusion Hath Paul Reiser Its Masterpiece' (2003) 'Evaporation' (2004) 'Which Way To Wizardry?' (2005) 'What Animals May Come' (2006) 'Itzamentals' (2007)
