Story behind the song
Daneja Mentale recorded the song 2 days after 3 NYPD officers were found not guilty for the killing of New York resident Sean Bell. The verses also point out references to the 2003 killing of motorist Kenneth Walker on highway I-85 in Columbus, Georgia by a deputy sheriff.
Lyrics
and they call it america
3 cops, 50 shots, 1 brother
what in the f***
going on in the world today
protect and serve, no I don't feel safe
with the boys in blue, they're full of poison dude
they seek and destroy you, they're employed to do
whatever they want, hide behind a badge
mad at you cause he wants what he never had
a good life, a good wife, a new crib
they hate to see you live
fabulous, glamorous
racial profiling, snapping cameras
claim you sell drugs, now you're labeled thug
fake road block, now your face's in mud
with your back up, they call for back up
sherieff claimed he tripped and shot your back up
...and they call it america
I.N.J.U.S.T.I.C.E.
that's how dirty cops stay clean
ain't no justice, just us
in this crooked-ass system, fight back is our mission
impossible, I disagree
if we stick to the plan, this sh** will cease
eventually, police, no friend to me
we serve insults, they serve injury
their warning shots are direct hits
as long as it ain't them, they don't give a sh**
peace to Sean Bell, peace to Kenneth Walker
it's time to fight back, I'm sick of talking
I'm sick of waking, I'm sick of marching
america's on fire, let's keep it sparking
cause we're tired of it, so f*** the law
we're holding court in the street, prepare for war.
...and they call it america
Keep 'em on their toes! Great song Bro. PEACE! JX
