Story behind the song
This was originally composed by me and Pat way back '95. Hehe, pretty old yeah. Finally got it useful. The original title was "Kalawakan". Now, pat just made little adjustments with the lyrics to make it a perfect fit to the earth day theme. This version was recorded at the " House Of Indies" in Cebu. The cheapest and one of the best studios in the country!. God demmet i'm gonna spread the word! I was quietly having my vacation in Cebu when I got a call from Pat to produce 2 cuts for the earth day MTV and thats how I came across this "charitable institution" - slash - recording studio, as the owner/head engineer, Johanne put it. And I mean "recording engineer" to its truest form. True there are a lot of so-called recording engineers in this country but this is the real deal. Johanne graduated from a post prod. institution in CA. And I'm telling you this guy knows his shit. He even let me use one of his studios for me to sequence the drum parts of this song for only 1 freaking hundred per hour! Its a MAC G5 system, tapped on a wall HD TV, with a choice of monitoring your stuff either on an NS-10 classic or a full dolby surround system. Beat that! Anyway, back to the song the drum parts were sequenced with Reason 3.0 but the instruments were very limited since the only version that was installed in the G5 was REASON adapted for PRO TOOLS. It was like a trial or limited version. So I had to make do with the preset on the rack. I was not able to add or delete sound generators. But I guess it worked out cause pat sort of liked the raw style of the arrangement. So, there you have it. Please listen. And yeah I did the vocals. Now zip.
