Story behind the song
I wrote this song on Easter Sunday while still in church. I am not much of a big eater in the mornings and people were down stairs eating breakfast and fellowshipping. I like to keep to myself on and off and I decided to go upstairs in the auditorium for some alone time. I looked up at the beautiful cross and light was shining thru a window on to the cross. That cross was so lite up and it got me to thinking how Jesus carried our pain and sorrow to the cross and in minutes this song was wrote down in my bible. I could not find anything to write on so it is still there to this day. Only the first and second verse and chorus came to me. I wrote the third verse later on and it has touched people's hearts which I am grateful. This song was a winner in a song contest in 2006. I did not write that song then. But my engineer that I was working with at the time sent it in. I had no idea that this was nationwide. It was Lee University Community College in Cleveland, TN. They picked 8 people and I was one of them. I got to go there and perform the song to a lot of people which was incrediable at the time because I was so sick with fibromalgia.
Lyrics
You Carried My Cross Words & Music by: Judy Church Copyrighted: April 15, 2001 (Chorus) You Carried My Cross You Carried My Shame You Carried My Sin and You Carried My Pain Your Blood, Your Grace And your eternal Love You Carried My Cross And You Carried My Pain. It must have been hard It must have seemed a long road from the garden of Gethsemane To a Hill called Calvary There's No Greater Love that would pay such a price for me That would suffer my pain and agoney on a cross in misery. Now I was the one who should have been crucified But you, died on that cruel tree And you did it all for me. Repeat Chorus again . . . Ending . . . . Your Blood, Your Grace And Your eternal love You Carried My Cross You Carried My Pain You Carried My Sin You Carried My Shame You Carried My Blame You Carried My Cross YOU CARRIED MY CROSS!

Judy, You are to be commended for the way you sing these inspiring & powerful songs with such conviction. I assume you wrote most, if not all of them. Nice! Wish you lived closer that you could come perform them at the churches I play for. If you're ever in Colorado, let me know! Thank-you for sharing! -blessings, Jeff
