We're a Contemporary Christian band with Rock, Folk and Funk flavorings. Think The Bangles meets BarlowGirl meets the 70s!
Damascus Dawn is a diverse group of people dedicated to one goal: proclaiming the love of God through music. We come from various ethnic backgrounds (from white, to black, to hispanic to a little bit of everything), musical backgrounds and varying marital status. But the things we have in common far outweigh our differences: we all love Christ, and we all love music. Damascus Dawn is: Michelle Scott Redmon: Lead Vocals, Acoustic Guitar Songwriter Lannae Mahan: Bass, BG Vocals John Mahan: Lead Guitar Deborah Young: Keyboards John "Johnny B" Blackledge: Drums

Story behind the song
Gena was a remarkable little girl in the children's ministry at our church. She was a shining example of what it means to be a Christian, and she was only eight years old! She loved everyone and never had an unkind word to say. Gena also loved Jesus with all her heart. She used to say she wanted to be a bird so she could fly up to Heaven to be with God. In 2005, she got her wish. We lost her in a car accident, and now she' s in the arms of the Savior she loves. We miss her, though...so I wrote this song.
