Story behind the song
I guess that being a disabled veteran, I come into contact with many much older vets when I go to the VA hospital. A sad, old man, sitting out in front of the hospital entrance in his wheelchair made me pause and think of my own mortality. While not autobigraphical, the song does hit home in spots.
Lyrics
Lost Memory Waltz He sits on the porch In that old wooden chair His eyes gaze out over the years The times he remembers are so long ago Now the days turned into years She was breath taking in the spring of her youth How their love shown thru joy and the tears Now he's living but dying in 3/4 time to the sweetness of the lost memory waltz Married at twenty two girls and then a son fore he went off to war She wrote everyday a universe away from the darkness and thunder he bore Came back from the edge a silent hurt in his soul a loss he could never explain He's living but dying in 3/4 time to the sweetness of the lost memory waltz Some times he goes for days just rocks and he waits for memories as real as today But the memories are played in his mind his heart beats a tune all the time He's living but dying in 3/4 time to the sweetness of the lost memory waltz The nights can be so cruel some times he sits and cries for the life he never knew The child inside that died and the bitter tired tears all he lost all these years But he's doing fine cause somewhere in his mind He's dancing with her by his side Now he's living but dying in 3/4 time to the sweetness of the lost memory waltz

Very touching song! Spinning on Red White & Blue Soundclick station!
Steve, you know I appreciate your music a lot. This piece especially is really strong. And you know that this is a comment by someone not doing country, even someone from another country. This is really a great and moving piece of music! Cheers from Frankfurt, Germany Andreas
