New arrangement of a song I wrote in 1969. Originally this song was modeled after "Punky's Dilemma" by Simon & Garfunkel. This arrangement is inspired by "City Morning Song" by Sarah Shannon, with elements of "Penny Lane," "Getting Better," "Wedding Bell Blues," and other songs with a mid-tempo swing feel.
Lyrics
The autumn leaves were bright red-orange
The soft breezes flowed through your hair
We walked along the sidewalk in the park
Autumn is my favorite time of the year
A trickle a leaf falling down to the earth
A crispness was there which said autumn is here
The red trees swayed gently clapping their cheer
It always is beautiful at this time of the year
instrumental stanza
A sad bird was moaning; he must change his home
Squirrels gathered food for they knew winter was near
And you and I loved each other so dear
For autumn is the loveliest time of the year
I'll always remember autumn this year
For autumn had a feeling -- kind of lonely, sincere
