A mysterious lyric, set by the mysterious Wolf at Wolfmusic; ballad about places we'll never visit -- within ourselves.

Internationally recognized, prize-winning lyricist well-versed in cabaret, indie, folk, country, showtunes and several other genres.
I am the Grand Prize Winner of the 2007 International Songwriting Competition for my collaboration with Eduard Glumov, "I'm Not Your Friend." We also won First Prize in the Rock/Alt Division of the Great American Song Contest. One judge called it a prime example of "world-class songwriting" and said the images in the were "often stunning." I'm a lyricist and have been collaborating with musicians from California to Kazakhstan, over the Internet. The fruits of that collaboration are found here, and at . While the winning song was a hot funk-rock song, with a compact streamlined lyric, I write in several styles. I've chosen "indie" as my genre, but I write anything from cabaret to country, and am looking to work with musicians and composers of all stripes. Currently I'm finding writing partners here in my home town of Philadelphia.

Story behind the song
This is a song, not about Vancouver really, but about places within ourselves we are too scared to explore. About people we feel unworthy of. About how we fantasize about ourselves. The specific meanings are obscure, but that was the quality that attracted Wolf of Wolfmusic. Wolf lives in Germany, and has a small following for his dark music. This is our first collaboration.
Lyrics
(chorus) How far would you go To get to Vancouver? Would you turn the corner? Would you take a step inside? Could you find your way back From the heart of Vancouver? Are there secrets you are willing to confide? (v1) There are souls that slip through your fingers There are words that echo without sound There are songs unvoiced by singers And dreams of flight that run aground I wear a shirt that's new I pause And check for flaws I drive the avenue Obey the traffic laws Is there a rendezvous? I wear a shirt that's new (chorus) How far would you go To get to Vancouver? Would you turn the corner? Would you take a step inside? Could you find your way back From the heart of Vancouver? Are there secrets you are willing to confide? (v2) There's the view from the top of the stairs There are perspectives that are enthralling Vertigo catches us unawares I always stop myself from falling I breathe you through my skin And yet We've never met I play a mandolin Embrace your silhouette And have what hasn't been I breathe you through my skin (bridge) Jacket in the corner Overflow with hints Wearing them does nothing to convince That the moon is in an unknown phase And we live in undiscovered bays Undiscovered bays Namaste Namaste (chorus) How far would you go To get to Vancouver? Would you turn the corner? Would you take a step inside? Could you find your way back From the heart of Vancouver? Are there secrets you are willing to confide?
