Artist picture
Lake Fork Verne and his banjo. Original country and Americana songs. Songs of yesteryear, growing up during the great depression 1930's and the way things are
Just me and my banjo...writing and singing about how things used to be long ago in the 30;s and 40's and how those experiences affect today. I started out wanting to get on record these stories and songs for my grandchildren; but after doing it for a while, others have expresses interest so we are recording and putting them out there.

Lyrics
John Burroughs © by: Verne Garrison March 27, 2008 @ Valley Park, Mo. John Burroughs One (D) of the great naturalists of our time From his study at old River (A) By Natures notes and words of rhyme Old Slabsides and Wood Chuck (D) sky In the fields and the woods, He observed and made us aware Natures ways of wisdom if we could Then recorded it for all of us to share The circuit of the summer hills Was one of his many themes Hot summers and late fall chills He could make you feel it, it seems From the hawks in the winter skies, To Wake Robin in the early spring He had a way with words That I had really, rarely seen I look at his seventeen volumes On my shelves, and suppose Those are collectors items, to some But to me sweet, sweet bites of prose

How is my friend V.G. doing?? I see you wrote another story and put song to it with your famous style. John Burroughs must of been a special man to get his own song. I always love your way with lyrics!! Nice job Verne!! Fondly, Rosie
