Story behind the song
Evan Schafer - drums, CP80, synthesizer, vocals "Roche Limit" came at a very good point during the 'Maya' sessions ... which probably explains why it did so well on the charts here at Soundclick. Anyway, the lyric was the most detailed and profound I had written up to that point, and really talks to the person listening to the track. When I went to record the track, however, I was at a loss for how to begin. Obviously, starting with drums was a must, but I couldn't find a suitable drum pattern to go with the riff I had written on the CP80 electric piano. Eventually, I found the hard-to-forget opening drumline for this song (which fit perfectly! Yay!) and recorded it immediately before I forgot it. Funny ... now I can't stop playing it whenever I'm trying to find a suitable drumline. Ironic.
