A one-man-band with all-original material, writing, composing and performing since 2005.
My name is Evan Schafer. I am an independent (or "indie") musician with a strong grounding in traditional composition, but I like to think my material always has a unique and individual flair. I guarantee not being bored out of your gourd when turning on one of the records. I produce, mix, and engineer everything myself, and have done so since late 2005.

Story behind the song
Evan Schafer - acoustic guitar, vocals In my opinion, "Vespers" is one of the best songs I've ever written, as well as one of the best performances I've ever recorded for a record. Being influenced by the Digital Blasphemy image of the same name, I wrote the lyric in practically no time at all. I sort of had the chorus lined up musically in my mind when the words flowed onto paper. When it came time to write the music for the track, I knew this should either be a piano and vocal, or guitar and vocal, track. I tried both, recording several demos, but nothing seemed to happen. Then, one night, just fooling around while sitting at my computer desk, I tuned my guitar to drop-D and, somehow, by some magical force, I played the first chord of what would lead to the rest of this track. Need I say more?
Lyrics
The sun comes crashing to Earth again Miles away from the stars Making it feel invisible It’s time to come home again Someone is waiting Waiting It’s time to forget this memory It’s time to remember all your friends Everything is broken In the vespers Everything is broken In the night Everything is broken Everything is broken I don’t know how you got here But it’s got to be a wondermind Plan of injunction, plan to destroy The land of love in all places today Light from a hole at the end of the tunnel Righteous man thinking of his life Middle earth between the land and sky Being as one, forever one (Chorus) Everything is broken In the vespers Everything is broken In the night Everything is broken Everything is love Everything is broken
