Story behind the song
I wrote this song after driving through Laramie, Wyoming and thinking that it would be a beautiful name for a girl.
Lyrics
LARAMIE © Bobby Rennert 2008 Laramie, you had the weather in your eyes. It snowed when you were angry and it rained when you cried; but it's gotten colder now since you said goodbye. Girl...I miss you. I never knew what kind of changes you would bring. It was hell in the winter but then came the spring. You had me where I could expect most anything Except you leavin' (chorus) Why is it when we tried so hard to make love work It seems we only set things up to fail? Why is it when we weigh the good against the bad The angry words we spoke tip the scales? Laramie, I'm not placin' any blame. You've said some hurtful things but I've said the same. and I still ache inside every time I say your name. I say it often. You and I, we were stubborn as the wind I'd pull you one way and you'd push back again and neither one of us would buckle or bend. ...I'm sorry Why is it when we tried so hard to make love work It seems we only set things up to fail? Why is it when we weigh the good against the bad The angry words we spoke tip the scales? Laramie, is there any chance at all you ever say my name...does it cause the rain to fall? I'd like one more chance to make the winter thaw. Is it over? Come back to me...Laramie
