This is a silly song...worse, it's a roughly produced silly song. But what's life for if not a bit of fun? This is supposed to sound like a bar-ballad. There is obnoxious clapping and whistling and a bit of attention from the barmaid.

Fantasy-themed rock ballads and anthems
Our demo CD "The Dark Before Hope" draws on the work of Tolkien, especially the Lord of the Rings epic. Bethany, lead vocalist and lyricist, is building up a body of songs about other books she was moved by as well--she's a fantasy writer with a penchant to wax eloquent in many forms about literature. Daniel, primary musician and current producer, plays around on his bass and sometimes a guitar to find musical hooks to build more songs around.

Story behind the song
Fellowship of the Ring--A Short Cut to Mushrooms, in which there is argument about cutting through the woods. _'Short cuts make long delays,'_ argued Pippin. 'The country is rough round here, and there are bogs and all kinds of difficulties down in the Marish - I know the land in these parts. And if you are worrying about Black Riders, I can't see that it is any worse meeting them on a road than in a wood or a field.' 'It is less easy to find people in the woods and fields,' answered Frodo. ... 'All right!' said Pippin. 'I will follow you into every bog and ditch. But it is hard! I had counted on passing the _Golden Perch_ at Stock before sundown. The best beer in Eastfarthing, or used to be: it is a long times since I tasted it.' 'That settles it!' said Frodo. 'Short cuts make delays, but inns make longer ones. At all costs we must kee you away from the 'Golden Perch.' From this we bring you AT THE GOLDEN PERCH
Lyrics
Pippin lad, your ruddy face Is set to take some pinching You've grown tall since you came last But that grin I'm still remembering... I've got a mug, and you've got a mouth So sit you down, so sit you down I've got a smile and you've got a laugh So sit down, Master Peregrin! Pippin brave, your tales so high Have brought in custom plenty You've grown stout since last came by Oh, won't you come and tell me? I've got a mug, and you've got a mouth So sit you down, so sit you down I've got a smile and you've got a laugh So sit down, Master Peregrin! Pippin sweet, you've got a glint In your eye that's gone all steely I like you still, strange since you went And your armor's shine so princely!
