Story behind the song
Bob Darlington has so many great tunes it was tough to know where to start to pick one for a recording session experiment at the ol manor, but we happily settled on Heart On My Sleeve. Its one of the first tunes of Bobs I ever heard him play. He played it first in the set when I sat in with him and John OHara at the Cup in Belair a couple of years ago. When I heard the first line Oh, Im frightened by everything; Im frightened by nothing. I knew I was going to like not only this song but the rest of Bobs originals. Bob is playing acoustic and electric guitars, bass, shakers and both vocals, but Im sitting in on 2nd acoustic, mandolin and tamborine. The recording itself was done in 3.5 hours on one evening.
