In 2007 Texas executed it's last convict before the Supreme placed a stay on all executions. Reading the newspaper story the following day, I couldn't help but wonder at the last days of all men who were executed at "Walls Prison". I'm not really making a politicial statement, but rather... an observation of how it was.
Lyrics
He sits in dark
a quiet room
alone for these few hours
The weight of life upon him now
He left a trail of shattered lifes
Forever altered paths
How the angels must have cried
By his own hand he dealt a fate
No innocence survived
A pain he never could define
He'll take that walk all by himself
A dark and silent door
Another Huntsville going home
Walls prison
If these concrete walls could weep
Would they shed a tear or two
The souls who lived here
And their silent walk alone
To a Huntsville going home
Been praying a lot these last few days
Trying hard to understand
The sadness of a man
The life he led the path he chose
And what he never had
Another Huntsville going home
Never knew a fathers love
A mothers gentle touch
His life a tortured aimless roam
In the quiet stillness of his heart
A calm he'd never known
Answered prayers arrived at last
The crowd begins at dawn
Softly prays for him
And those who'll take his soul
At dusk the candles glow
As if to light the way
For a Huntsville going home
Walls prison
If these concrete walls could weep
Would they shed a tear or two
The souls who lived here
And their silent walk alone
To a Huntsville going home
