Story behind the song
Evan Schafer - harpsichord, sampled strings, compressed drums, compressed synthesizer, vocals, effects "October Flame" was the first track that I ever experimented with compression on. I wanted a tight and poppy drum sound, and wanted something similar for the synthesizer. Obviously, with me at the mixer as well as everything else for 'Maya' as a whole, I wanted to experiment a little more instead of doing the same ol' thing over and over again. Incorporating the harpsichord and synthesizer into this track also kept me focused and in-tune (no pun) with what was happening from take 1 until the final mix. There are so many intricate details of the mixing on this song, I can't even begin to name them all. It brought me back to when I did "Endless Blue" on 'Fluorescence.'
