Lyrics
The Rolling Stone Cafe You’ve been hiding in your room again With all those voices in your head So maybe we should pay a visit to a place that I know well Where only the lonely go All of the lonely know Where we should go today To the Rolling Stone Cafe And we will have ourselves a good time And we will have some drinks and things Forgetful music there to help us alleviate the pain Which all of the lonely know Only the lonely throw Their broken pain away In the Rolling Stone Cafe But since we appear to be on target Before you lose those shining eyes I want to warn you about your time Your time will bring you lies And I’ve lied with time before It was a dreadful bore So lover come away You still have time to play And you might need to stay At the Rolling Stone Cafe And then the men come down with darkness And they come down like a hard rain And they expect us to obey them when they tell us what to say But only the lonely know Only the lonely know Exactly what to say From the Rolling Stone Cafe So I think I’ll stay here when the rain comes I will be cold and drenched to the bone But if they ask me for my number I’ll know just what to play Though all of the lonely know All of the lonely know The only place to play Is in the Rolling Stone Cafe But since we appear to be on target Before you lose those shining eyes I wanted to warn you about your time Your time will bring you lies And I’ve lied with time before It was a dreadful bore Oh lover come away We still have time to play And you might need to stay At the Rolling Stone Cafe

This is probably one of my top ten favorite songs. So thrilled to find it here. Thank you. Sincerely. Terrie
Mark, I like the way you put words together, very creative thinking and this song has potential. My main problem with it is that it seems like it want to be two different songs. The first two verses sound like two old lovers interacting, but the next two verses sound more like a political theme. That aside; I really like your craftsmanship on a line by line basis.
