This the 2nd movement from my 1st string quartet. It is a harmonisation of two hymn tunes: Eventide (Abide With Me) and Lloyd. These are harmonised seperately and then combined.

The use of the two hymn tune melodies reflects my roots as a cornet player in Bratton Silver Band. The quartet features a number of string techniques, and this movement uses tremellos throughout. It is recorded by a scratch quartet from Wells Cathedral School - the average age of the musicians is 16 - at one of the two composers concerts held each year.
