Story behind the song
This song is inspired by a Cal Tjader tune, hot vibist from the 1960's. He recorded originally with a jazz quartet. First I played it for many years on the vibes. Later I wrote some lyrics to it and arranged it for Latin jazz big-band style. The piano montuno that you hear in the middle is my own! copyrighted.... registered with God!... you can't use it!!!... just kidding!
Lyrics
(A) When in the dark of night You hear the drums begin to play, You know you've got the start Of a Cuban Serenade. The passion of the dance Will give you reason to survive, You feel the ground below Shake with the rhythms of the old The fire in your heart Will never let you stand aside, The light within your mind Will shine all over humankind. When in the dark of night You hear the drums begin to play, You know you've got the start Of a Cuban Serenade. (B) Come with me, come all to the dance Let the drums begin the sceance! Loose yourself in the night serenade Let it be your grand escapade! (etc.) Lyrics Copyright (C)2000 by Sergio Bezard Latin-jazz Arrangement and MIDI Arrangement (C)2000 by Sergio Bezard
