Stepping out upon the wire
There’s no safety net beneath
A silhouette against the sky
I grip the harness with my teeth – and fly
In the spotlight I perform
My repertoire of aerial feats
Down below the audience gasp
And cling more tightly to their seats – and cry
Each time they ask me why
There’s only one reply
There’s no sound like the roar of the crowd
Time stands still as they cheer
Feel the noise as they’re raising the roof
Let it ring in your ear
Every night I take the plunge
Launch my body into space
Looking for the perfect stunt
A pinnacle of daring grace – so high
Times I’ve cried,”Enough’s enough”
Packed my bag; called it a day
Time and time again I’ve found
Couldn’t keep myself away – but try
