Story behind the song
I met a girl a long time ago. We were both on the road when we met. She didn't speak English very well so we never said much to each other, even still, we created a very strong bond. After a week, my band had finished playing and we were ready to move on to the next city. She too, had to move on to her next performance. I never saw her again and yet she lingers in my memories to this day.
Lyrics
I walk alone down these city streets Wondering if I would ever fit in And behold comes a woman Walking straight at me And I know what kind of trouble she's in So I smile and I ask if I can tag along Oh she looks at me as if she wasn't scared Then she laughed with a grin and thought that I'd fit in so we walked along together for a while We're alone, we're alone Lost without a home But together in a troubled world I don't talk when I'm with her She never spoke a word I guess some things are left better unheard I guess some things are left better unheard I take a chance, I hold her hand And she grips so tight I almost gave in Though I knew she'd be strong More was going on And I won't let go of a hand that I'm in No I won't let go of a hand that I'm in We're alone we're alone Lost without a home But together in a troubled world I don't talk when I'm with her She never spoke a word I guess some things are left better unheard I guess some things are left better unheard
