My band for Song of the Soul is me and my friends
Story behind the song
this song came directly from those with first hand experience of being in Nablus, in the west bank (palestine), for a little collegiate trip home, an education experience of lights out, cover up the windows, walls shaking oh my god we're getting bombed. there's nothing more real, except when you know there's no cushy college to go back to in the states, no one to save you from the fear and stench and dust - everywhere, all the time, dust and bricks. lots of bricks. it wasn't supposed to be anywhere near the fighting. no one ever knows where the fighting is when they say 'oh, it's not supposed to be any...blah blah blah.' there's war everywhere and peace starts here.

(chorus) (Begin)
Emj
It just doesn’t seem as though the time is right
Am7
For a territorial fire fight
Emj
Cause oil and atoms and nucleates
Am7
(1)Are all that’ll give your men their might
(2)could never make up for your loss of life
(3)are all that’ll give your men their might
Verse 1
C D Em
And what about destruction of your nations
C D Em
Your buildings and your back yards and excavations
C D Em
And people …total civilizations
C D Em
You’d have to compromise all moral considerations
Chorus (2)
Bridge
C G
And then you’d rationalize
C G
You’d have to tell some lies
C G
And it’d be no surprise
Em
That not a soul would cry
Verse 2
Emj
You’d never really live again
Am7
You’d just be here or there or then
Emj
But maybe free your souls from life
Am7
With the pain that’s become so contrite
Chorus (3)
C G
And then you’d rationalize
C G
You’d have to tell some lies
C G
And it’d be no surprise
Em
That not a soul would cry (hold cry trailing off)
