Story behind the song
Memories of a loved one can bring you down, upset and sadden...sometimes you can feel chained to that one person. Sometimes to move on you have to break those chains, live your life while you can. My interpretaion of the lyrics - Rememberance of that certain person, whether living or dead, can sometimes be daunting and hard to forget, sometimes we don't want to forget those memories. In this instance a male character is created, and it seems as though he has lost his son...and quite possibly his girlfriend or wife. He still holds out hope that one day his son will return...Perhaps the wife or girlfriend has, or would like to...You still want to love, and be loved, but it can be hard when the past still haunts...maybe it's best to break the chains that are holding you back, and deal with the fact that that special someone...has truely gone.
